ABOUT THE ROCK

what to expect

Our vision is that The Rock Church continues to grow as a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-site fellowship that is connecting to God’s mission in St. Louis and around the world.

We are a casual, contemporary church in the heart of St. Louis. The Rock Church is a place…

  • To be yourself.
  • To ask tough questions and get honest answers.
  • To meet new friends and build authentic relationships.
  • To grow spiritually and relationally.
  • To make a difference in your community and world by serving others.
  • What is The Rock Church About?:

  • We strive to be a church where people can come and experience God; not religion. Jesus came to start a movement; not an institution. We don't want to just "have church." We want to experience the power and the presence of God in our worship and daily lives.
  • We intentionally are a fellowship that highly values love. Learning to Love God and Love People is what being a follower of Jesus is all about (Matthew 22:36-40).
  • We intentially are a fellowship that highly values grace. The gospel is the "good news." Jesus did not come into the world to codemn the world but to save the world (John 3:16-17). Therefore we believe that Christ's people should not be condemning or judgmental, but full of love and grace as they communicate to the world that Jesus died and rose again to bring forgiveness to anybody that will repent of ther sin and receive Him as thier Lord and Savior.
  • We are a refuge for people who simply want to worship and serve the Lord.
  • We believe that the Bible is God's Word and the sole authority for how we live our lives and how our fellowship is ordered.
  • We want to be a joyful, fun place for people to find new friends and grow in their relationship with God.
  • FAQ's

What are the worship gatherings like?

A worship gathering should be a celebration; not a memorial service. We know that people have different musical preferences. Real worship transcends musical genres. That is why our 8:30 a.m. gathering in Brentwood is traditional but certainly not boring. Our 11:00 a.m. gathering in Brentwood and the 11:00 a.m. gathering in Soulard are contemporary and feature full bands.

In our worship gatherings we worship and praise God, teach from the Bible, pray, and take communion together (monthly). All our gatherings are modern, but Biblical in nature. You will see people singing loudly or quietly assuming an attitude of prayer, clapping and raising their hands, or simply standing reverently. We encourage all genuine expressions of biblical worship during our services. Our goal in corporate worship is to realize and experience the presence of God and give thanks for who He is and what He has done.

    What are the Sermons like?

The messages at The Rock are practical and relevant teachings from the Bible. We believe that God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, so we present the ageless truths of the Bible in a way that is easy to understand, even if you've never been to church.

    What should I wear?

At The Rock you're welcome to wear whatever you'd like (well almost). But the point is, we do not have a dress code. Most people dress casually. Just be you.

    Where are the Worship Gatherings?

Depending on your location in the metro area, you have a couple of choices. The Rock is a multi-site church with worship gatherings at Brentwood and Soulard.

    What about the kids?

The Rock Church specializes in kids. Kids love our Kids Church! We have excellent nursery and pre-school care for all worship gatherings. Older kids attend worship and then are dismissed to Kids Church as the Pastor begins to teach.

What kind of church is The Rock Church?

We are an autonomous, evangelical Baptist church. For the purposes of cooperative missions, The Rock Church maintains a connection with The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).

Through this connection our church is able to support colleges, seminaries, children's homes, retirment homes, hunger relief, disaster relief, the work of almost 10,000 missionaries in the U.S. and around the world.
